For new players at Pokerroom, they will find that the site has put lots of effort into creating a professional feel to the site and the graphics at the table.

The lobby has a good layout so new players should be able to find the tournament they are looking for quite easily. New players will find excellent freerolls to get them started and cash games starting at the smaller levels, which many new players like to play at to get a feel for the site before investing bigger money. Multi Table tournaments and SnG’s are also available at varied buy ins too.
If you feel more comfortable playing for free on a site before deciding to deposit or not, then you will find Pokerroom has play money poker available to suit your needs.

Pokerroom also offer a poker school onsite and have a variety of games for players to choose from. If as a new player you need extra help getting started then you will find help and support useful, and available 24/7.
Depositing and withdrawing are made quite easy to the player and are very secure to give peace of mind to new players wishing to deposit, and the general mood at most poker tables seems very friendly.

If as a new player you are serious about your poker you will find satellites and qualifiers to many major land based tournaments so you can end up with your chance at the biggest prizes. With big gauranteed tournaments run on a regular basis too, there is a lot for the new player to be interested by and I am sure the good points about Pokerroom will only be built upon as time passes.

fulltiltpoker.com – Top 3 tips for Online Poker Stratergy

Firstly when it comes to online play, I would advise using the different games and blind levels on offer as much as possible. one of the good things about online play is that you can choose the level of cash game you play at, and the type of game you sit down to.

This extra choice means you can choose a game where you can really play to your strengths. My second tip for online play would be to always take advantage of any freerolls that are on offer. I know that if you are playing for reasonable amounts of money, the prizes often offered in freerolls seem comparitively paltry, but anything you make, is at no risk to your own bankroll, so freerolls are worth taking advantage of. Another point to make is that you can experiment with approaches to MTT play in freerolls, such as starting off aggressively if you usual start conservatively or vice versa.

My third tip would be to keep an eye out for promotions on sites, as these can often prove a great extra money maker for online players. These promotions are exclusive to online play and many of them can yield good prizes if you know what you need to achieve to qualify, and you put your mind to it.
Of course you cannot survive on promotions and freerolls alone but any addition to your bankroll that is risk free, is worth pursuing.

If you take heed of these points you should find it easier to keep your bankroll steadily improving, especially if you are not a big stakes player, the small additions will add up.

pokerstars.com – Top 3 Poker Sites

Posted by Trix @ 12:00 AM, Friday Aug 15th, 2008

There will always be many factors in deciding your favourite poker sites, and I have several in mind which have their strong points. If I had to choose a favourite though, Pokerstars would just about edge it.

The variety of games they offer is a big plus point for me, and I can’t really see any glaring weakness in the package they offer to online players. I like their promotions, bonuses, graphics and most other aspects so I would have to put them in first, despite PKR being the most state of the art site in my opinion.

That brings me to my number two choice. I think the giant leap forward PKR has taken with the online playing experience cannot be understated, and other sites needs to take steps to towards offering a visually more pleasing game of poker. I like PKR a lot for other reasons too, and it certainly has the potential to be better than Pokerstars in my opinion. When it comes to my third favourite, I am a little unsure of which to choose. Full Tilt are an excellent and established site, with many great promotions and tournaments too. They have one of the best team of professionals on board too which speaks volumes for the quality of their site. Having said this, my loyalties feel partly attached to Paddy Power Poker.

This site was the first I ever joined, and I still play there today, whether it is simply because I have grown so accustomed to playing there, or because they are in the top three finest sites around, I can’t really be sure. So with that in mind, I think I will call it a tie for third. There are many other great sites around, and these are constantly trying to improve, so you never know, a year from now that list may well have altered. but for now, I would class that as my personal top three favourites.

pkr.com – My Best Poker Hand

The following hand was probably the most memorable I have played, and the luckiest.

With (4,4) I made a raise preflop and was called by an opponent. The flop brought a four, a ten, and a queen, and so I made a small raise. My opponent thought for a while before announcing a re raise. I could perhaps have pushed all in, but decided to just call instead. The turn brought a two for a board of (10,Q,4,2). Leading out with a reasonable raise, my opponent announced that he was all in. I was fairly unsure of what he had at this point, thinking perhaps a two pair was possible, but the fact he called a raise preflop was troubling me.

After some deliberation I decided that I had to call. I was horrified to see him turn over (10,10) and due to my hitting some good cards on recent hands, he laughed and said "what have you got this time, four fours?" I turned my hand over and said "no, you’ve got it". My opponent then smiled, on seeing my cards, and happily turned over the river. Incredibly, it was a four. I don’t think I have ever seen someone look so shocked. Needing to hit a one outer to stay alive is the last place any player wants to be, but nothing quite matches the joy of actually hitting your card in that situation. I felt sorry for my opponent of course, he was a friend of mine after all, but poker can provide great elation and dismay sometimes. That’s the nature of the game. After going out of a tournament last night with (A,J) when my opponent rivered his seven while holding (A,7), I know as well as anyone that it works both ways.
